I am Dalitso Phiri, a 26-year-old medical student and son of Pastor Anthony Phiri of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa. I would like to share my academic journey and express my heartfelt gratitude to the Wendland Scholarship Fund (EHW) for their unwavering support.
My Academic Journey
Growing up in a family of five, my parents faced significant challenges in affording school fees for us. However, upon qualifying for grade eight through grade twelve, I was fortunate enough to receive the EHW scholarship, which covered part of my school fees until I completed my secondary education. This generous support enabled me to focus on my studies and achieve academic excellence.
Pursuing a Career in Medicine
After completing grade twelve, I applied for a course in medicine and was accepted to study at one of Zambia’s top universities. For the past six years, the EHW scholarship has continued to support me by paying part of my tuition fees. Currently, I am in my sixth year of medical school, practicing at one of the largest teaching hospitals in Zambia.
Giving Back to the Community
Apart from my academic pursuits, I am actively involved in my congregation as the secretary of the youth group. I also participate in singing and sharing the gospel with my fellow youths, which has not only deepened my faith but also allowed me to make a positive impact in my community.
A Message of Gratitude
I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the EHW scholarship team for their kindness and generosity. Their support has been instrumental in shaping my academic and professional journey. May the Lord continue to bless and guide them as they support the children of pastors in the Lutheran Church of Central Africa, Zambia.
Through this testimony, I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams with determination and faith, knowing that with the right support, they can overcome any obstacle and achieve their goals. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and look forward to serving my community as a medical professional .
Sincerely yours
Phiri Dalitso
