The E.H. Wendland Scholarship Fund was established by the Wendland family to support secondary school education for children of pastors in the Lutheran Church of Central Africa in Zambia and Malawi.  Access to secondary education is a challenge for many families in central Africa and pastors struggle with supporting their children with appropriate education.

Currently, more than 50 pastors in Zambia and Malawi rely on the financial assistance offered through this scholarship supporting more than 100 children.  Each child’s total cost for one school year is approximately $250.

If you are interested in supporting children’s education in central Africa while supporting the families of men sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, please consider donating to this scholarship fund.  Your gifts and prayers are greatly appreciated.  All donations are tax-deductible.

Please make checks out to “E.H. Wendland Scholarship Fund” and send them to:

ZAMBIA Summary Report for Grants in 2015:
A total of 47,500 Zambia Kwacha (about $7300) in cash scholarship grants was distributed to 47 students from the families of 27 pastors of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa in Zambia.

The following is a response from one student who has now graduated from this program:
HOW THE E.H. WENDLAND SCHOLARSHIP FUND HAS HELPED ME:
I am writing this letter to share with you how the E. H. Wendland Fund has helped me. Starting from the time when I passed my Grade 7 examinations to enter Grade 8, my parents could not afford to pay my school fees. However, I was able to go into Grade 8 because this fund made it possible for my parents to pay my fees and also to buy the things I needed for school, such as books, shoes, and even school uniforms.
This same fund assisted me through Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, for which I am grateful. To thank God that I was able to complete my secondary schooling, I have dedicated my time to Sunday School teaching and also by playing the keyboard in church when we sing hymns.
I pray that God will continue to bless the people who contribute to this fund so that many more children of our pastors can be helped in the same way. I have enclosed two photos of me–one with my Sunday School class and the other showing me on the keyboard.
    Yours faithfully,

    Here is another, briefer response:
Dear Members of the E.H. Wendland Scholarship Committee:
I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. How are you and all your families? I hope that God is protecting you.
I thank you for the support you have offered that has enabled me to complete my Grade 12 studies. I am most grateful. May God bless you and keep you.
